MID-COLUMBIA CAR CLUB

MEETING MINUTES

February 19, 2013

 

Vice-President Jake Grossmiller called the meeting to order tonight at 6 PM at Spooky’s in The Dalles. To begin the agenda, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited by those present. OFFICERS PRESENT: All officers were present with the exception of our President. INTRODUCTIONS: None. GUESTS: None. GOOD of the ORDER: Our in-house humorist, Con Kilian, supplied us with a laugh to start the meeting. TREASURER’S REPORT: Kathy Shebley-Kilian gave a report of the bank account balance & all bills are paid to this date. It was moved & seconded to approve the report as given. Motion approved. MINUTES of the PREVIOUS MEETING: It was moved & seconded to approve the minutes of the January meeting as written in the February Cruiser. Motion approved. CORRESPONDENCE: None. MEMBERSHIP REPORT: Membership Chairman Dale Coles reports 81 paid members for the current year. Tonight 25 members attended the meeting. HEARTS & FLOWERS: Bud Jones has been having some health issues but was reported seen at his “office” as usual. We’re thinking of you, Bud. TECH TIPS/SHOP RECOMMENDATIONS: John Kiser suggests when having any type of automotive problem sometimes it is a good idea to check out the simplest things such as connections. RECENT ARRIVALS: None. CARS & PARTS FOR SALE: Bob Earls still has a VW convertible for sale, & Sam Bilyeu, an International pickup. EVENT REPORTS (Past): Another beautiful day was, as normal, the weather for the Is It Spring Yet? Potluck gathering at the home of Sandra Fritz. Twenty eight members & guests were there for good food & fellowship. Thanks, Sandra! UPCOMING EVENTS: Tomorrow, Wednesday night’s informal gathering will be at The Barbeque, 5 PM. The annual St Paddy’s Day Cruise In will be March 16, at Heppner, beginning at 9 AM. The Pie Social is set for Saturday, March 23rd, at Sam Bilyeu’s home, 1 PM. CRUISE the GORGE REPORT: Mark Fortin reported on the first meeting of the year, held Feb. 5th, to plan this year’s CTG show. MCCC will again do the tee shirt production & sales. The goody bags were discussed. An attempt will be made to get bigger prizes for the raffle, such as a weekend stay at a beach condo. The possibility of having a closed cruise on Friday night was among topics discussed with many details yet to be resolved. Shortening the length of trophy presentation was also a subject under consideration. Anyone with ideas for improvements to the show is invited to present them. The next CTG meeting will be March 5th. OLD BUSINESS: Slogans for the 2013 CTG tee shirts are due tonight. NEW BUSINESS: None. DRAWING: Names drawn tonight were Backstrand, Stewart & Hlavka, none of whom were present. Drawing amount for March’s meeting will be $60.00. ADJOURNMENT: VP Jake adjourned the meeting at 6:20 PM.
