Five vehicles from MCCC traveled eastward to the Hermiston Classic Car Club-17th Annual Car Show “Cool Rides” on Saturday, July 14th. The eastward bound caravan drove through a spectacular thunderstorm accompanied by a deluge of heavy rain. The Hageman’s practiced their “wind tunnel” technique used in aerodynamic research to study the effects of air moving past solid objects. It was reported by both that the faster they went the more the rain traveled horizontally…or so they said. Did I mention that the convertible top was DOWN? There were around 100 cars at the show. It was reported that earlier that morning they had 4″ of standing water in McKenzie Park. By registration time, all traces of the storm had disappeared. The show was nice with lots of nice cars/trucks to view, lots of shade, aslight breeze and temperatures in the high 80’s-low 90’s. Close to the park the City had a Street Fest with craft & food vendors, games, entertainment. The shops in the downtown area were open as well and the ladies from the club perused them all. Steve Dugan won a trophy for Ray Shulten’s Motors 1968 Ford Mustang GT California Special. Congratulation Steve! Members attending: Bob & Bonnie Earls, Bill Oostenburg & Barb Thomas, John & Barb Kiser, Steve Dugan, and Lynn Long.
