MCCC March 2016 Minutes
Meeting was called to order March 15 at 6 p.m. at Spooky’s in The Dalles by President Jake Grossmiller with 47 present.
GUESTS: Lee & Debbie Courtney from White Salmon attended tonight. Lee relayed information on their current project: a ’65 Pontiac Le Mans 2 dr hardtop.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Treasurer Kathy Kilian reported positive balance with no bills due.

CORRESPONDENCE: President Jake has received information from La Grande on their GrandeRondevue scheduled 15-17 July.
MEMBERSHIP REPORT: Membership chair Barb Kiser reports a current tab of 104 members, including new members: Jack & Sally Hay, Drew Sorvik, and Don & Marsha Embree.
President Jake introduced Drew as one of our judges for Show in the Shade. Drew will be judging imports. Then Drew gave brief summation on his involvement with the younger generation encouraging their interest with cars.
TECH TIPS/SHOP RECOMMENDATIONS: Several members commented on great service from Jack’s Body Shop.
CARS & PARTS FOR SALE: Sam Bilyeu has 47-55 Chev P.U. parts available. Paul Cummins in Hood River (across from Les Schwab)going out of business and selling off inventory of mostly older Ford & Chev parts.
EVENT REPORTS (PAST): President Jake relayed his experience of surprise when knocking on Sam Bilyeu’s door Sunday March 13. When Sam came to the door there stood Jake with pie in hand. Sam asked what he wanted and Jake replied “I’m here for the pie social.” “You’re a day late” was Sam’s reply. Everyone had a good laugh at Jake’s confusion of dates.
UPCOMING EVENTS: Members going to Heppner’s St. Paddy’s event will meet at 7 a.m. across from Mc Donald’s. Portland Swap Meet also happening.
CRUISE THE GORGE REPORT: The first CTG meeting held March 1 was attended by several MCCC members but no Rotarians. President Jake reports a $1500.00 grant has been awarded for signage and additional information. Goody bag sponsorship has been paid for, and it was determined that 300 total bags should be ordered due to expected increase in registrations. Import trophies will be judged by Drew. The April issue of Cruzin’ magazine will have photos of the 2015 Show in the Shade. Meeting. With increased interest due to the presence of Dennis Gage from ‘My Classic Car’, we need help from as many members as possible. Next CTG meeting is scheduled for April 5.
OLD BUSINESS: Mark Fortin reports the web site is up and running but is still a work in progress. Please contact Mark if there are any questions.
A chairman is needed for the calendar project. Prez. Jake advises most everything is in place at Staples for printing etc. but someone is needed to photograph etc. Let President Jake know if you are willing.
NEW BUSINESS: President Jake reminds members it is not too early to think about officers for the next year.
GOOD OF THE ORDER: ‘The Blonde and the Rabbit’ was an amusement shared.
